Pear Nectar of the Goddess Martini PDF Print E-mail
The sweet aroma takes you to heaven and the booze will keep you there
The sweet fall flavor of ripe pears is hard to come by here in Hawai'i. We just don't have the right climate to grow the creamy fragrant fruit, and shipments from the mainland tend to fall on the under-ripe no-taste side of the flavor spectrum. So imagine my jubilation upon discovering Looza brand Pear Nectar on sale at Tamura's Market for a mere $3.69 for a 33.8 oz. bottle.

For the uninitiated among you, Looza nectars are high quality blends of fruit puree, filtered water, and sugar. The GMO-free nectars are produced in Belgium under the EU's higher food processing standards, and you can taste the difference. Tamura's also had Peach and Mango Looza on the shelf, which are just as delicious, and equally versatile. You'll never go back to Kern's nectar again.

How to best enjoy your Looza? Straight-up Looza is thick and heady enough to be a dessert all on its own. My beautiful Breakers bartender friend Beth likes hers with Perrier over ice. But for a sweet grown-up treat, try my original recipe for a Looza Pear Martini. For winners only! You could substitute any flavor of Looza nectar if you so desire.

Makes 2 big martinis

Ingredients:
6 oz. Looza Pear Nectar
4 oz. vodka
generous splash of triple sec
1 tsp. vanilla extract
ground cinnamon or cardamom
ice for the shaker

Tools:
Cocktail shaker
pre-chilled martini glasses (fill 3/4 with ice and add water and let sit while you commence with mixing activities)

Fill your shaker with ice. Pour in the alcohol, the vanilla extract and the pear nectar. Add a pinch of cinnamon. Shake it! Shake it! Shake that healthy butt!
Dump the ice water out of your chilled martini glasses, and pour in your boozy nectar, sans ice. You can garnish with another pinch of spice on the surface of the martini, and a slice of fruit on the rim. A cinnamon stick would also look very stylish.
Enjoy, Loozas!
