![]() The green country shack where Aloha Aina used to be is now home to Surfah Smoodeez Cafe, a pleasing alternative to KFC and the BK lounge if you are cruising around Wai‘anae. With 16 smoothie options -- the most popular is the Lava Tube (strawberry, coconut, pineapple and banana) -- there is surely a fruity sumthin'-sumthin' for everyone. ![]() For post-surf local kine grinds, try Auntie Olivia's pork chops or mahi plate. She says her secret sauce is da winnahs. Surfah Smoodies is also a one-stop shop for other local favorites ($6.50-$7.50): kalua pig, pasteles, shoyu chicken, tripe stew, lau lau, hamburger steak, etc. Or if your appetite is bigger than a bullyboarder's, go for the steak and crab or steak and shrimp plates. There were so many choices, I had a hard time deciding, so I just went with the cheeseburger deluxe, at $3 a tasty bargain. ![]() Breakfast is served all day, always a bonus for people who like eggs and rice for lunch. Surfah Smoodeez Cafe is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Saturday. They're located just past Waianae Intermediate on the makai side (left) if you're driving north or just past KFC on the right if you're coming back from Makaha. Call 375-2933 or 478-9088 for take-out orders. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
