Indigenous handcrafted art makes unique holiday gifts
If you dread the busiest shopping day of the year, then here's an option for you. The Honolulu Academy of Arts presents their 26th Annual World Art Bazaar from Nov. 24 through Dec. 9. Among hundreds of items, special offerings this year include: masks from Nepal, a large collection of Japanese haori (jackets) as well as clothing made from vintage Thai silk ikat sarongs, a large collection of antique and vintage Chinese baskets,
ceramics and cookie molds, fanciful carved and hand-painted animals from Mexico, vintage ikebana baskets from Japan, old African beads, hand-woven textiles from Indonesia, vintage Japanese obi, bronze Hindu and Buddhist deities, as well as an extensive array of jewelry.

The 26th Annual World Art Bazaar is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday from 10 am through 5 pm, closed on Monday. Admission is free and all proceeds go to support the Academy of Arts.
